About

Solace Pet Loss Ireland was set up in 2008 to provide support for individuals and families suffering the loss of a pet through death or disappearance.

Animals have the capacity to love us unconditionally. Anyone who has loved an animal knows how unique this bond is. Unfortunately, we live in a society where there is a stigma attached to grieving for an animal and when people lose a pet they often hide the true extent of their grief for fear of being ridiculed. It takes time to adjust to life without an animal companion that has been an important part of your day-to-day living.

If you have suffered the loss of a pet or are preparing for the difficult task of euthanasia, please do not hesitate to contact Solace Pet Loss Ireland and we will endeavour to provide you with the information that you need.

If you would like to talk, please call Annie at +353-87-3879938 and leave a message. Annie will get back to you as soon as possible. There is no charge for this service.

The death of her dog, Toby, prompted Annie to set up this service.

"Toby was a cross-breed rescue dog. He was a great companion to me. I got him when I was in my 30's, and when he died I was in my 50's. It was like the loss of a good auld pal." Faithful Departed (Irish Times 16.02.2008).

"Solace provides a much-needed, gentle and supportive role and an emotional lifeline at a time when people might otherwise feel very alone"  –  Pete Wedderburn BVM&S CertVR MRCVS
